Pastor Straton and his family.
In 2008, BCC entered into a relationship with Pastor Straton Gataha and Eglise Vivante de Jesus Christ (The LIving Church of Jesus Christ). BCC leaders visited Rwanda in October 2008 to investigate avenues to support Pastor Straton and the work of his church. Four opportunities arose from our initial visit but one stands out among the rest.

Over the last two years, teenagers and adults have made three trips to Raleigh, North Carolina. “Mission Raleigh” is a ministry to inner-city, low -income apartment complexes. Their goal is to establish on-going Christian ministries in these neighborhoods. BCC teams have participated in:
- Planning and leading Kids Club filled with games, songs, crafts, and bible stories;
- Collecting and donating food to restock the Mission Raleigh Food Pantry;
- Assisting with community- wide block parties; and
- Light construction projects in the apartment complexes.
These trips have impacted hundreds of needed children and our adults’ and teenager’s lives.

Andy and Emily are originally from Tennessee. Emily was born and raised in Blount County. She served with Pastor Jeff for two summers while in college at the University of Tennessee. Pastor Jeff’s says of Emily, “She has always had a special heart for God. I don’t know anyone that has sought God harder or loves Jesus more. Her husband Andy is special as well and is deserving of a godly lady like Em. We will do whatever we can for them. They have the hearts of servants and live lives of sacrifice… they have taught me much about following God.”
They live in Indonesia with their children. Andy operates an agricultural farm teaching folks improved ways to farm and better use their resources. Emily serves ladies, assists the English school, is learning to make dairy products from goats, and is a mother.
BCC has helped support:
- · A seminar for reaching others
- · A three acre production field for agricultural farming
- · A training event for Andy and two teammates (they traveled by a truck 15 hours to attend the 2 day training)
- · A needy family buy work uniforms for their daughter’s first job
- · Expenses for an Agricultural center. One such item was renovating a building used to train farmers in home industry skills(simple skills in processing Agriculture products efficiently and sanitarily)
- · A new English Club for college students
- · The purchase of equipment for the farm such as a generator

In 2010 a group of our students and adults traveled to Morehead City NC. During their time there they ministered to an elderly couple through completing much needed repairs and upgrades to the interior and exterior of their home.
They also ministered to several kids and their parents through a Bible School type daycamp at the local Boys and Girls Club. And with a visit to a local Senior Center they were able to love on some of the seniors through singing and just hanging out with them.
