Welcome to Blount Community Church's website! This church is a result of God calling some of His followers to start a new church in Blount County that loves and seeks Him above all else and intentionally loves others by reaching out to those who do not have a church family. This is our mission: to love God and love others. It is clear and simple.
God made Blount Community Church clear to me (Jeff) in January 2005 when He constantly interrupted my prayers and began revealing visions of BCC. God did the same for me (Kenny) when He told me to pack up and move my family back to Maryville in 2007. And God continues to assemble a growing family who tries to follow Him and a team of leaders that seek Him in serving the mission of the church.
We realize for some this talk about God speaking to us and directing our lives may sound weird. That's okay. There was a time we would have agreed and found this weird too. In fact, even now, we don't understand it all. But the truth is, God is real and He speaks to us. If you stick around BCC long enough, you will discover this on your own.
We don't know why you have chosen to visit our site. Our hope is you are one of the many in Blount County who doesn't attend church. You may not have a peaceful relationship with God and are wondering about God or church. If that is the case, we have prayed for you. We have prayed that you would personally experience the love and peace that comes in a relationship with Him. Our church family is open. We invite you to come to Blount Community Church as you are. You will not be judged. You will not be embarrassed. Our goal is for you to experience God while being with us.
If you are searching for God and wondering if a church really has something to offer, God started this church for you!
May God bless you in your spiritual journey,

Pastor Jeff is from Maryville. He has been happily married for 20 years to Kim Hurst, a native of Blount County. They have two teenage daughters, Sarahbeth and Katie. Kim is an elementary school teacher and their girls attend Maryville High School.
Jeff graduated from Maryville High in 1985; Maryville College in 1989; and Liberty University’s Seminary in 1996. Prior to working full-time in the church, he worked for eight years at Peninsula Hospital.
In 1987, while attending Maryville College, Jeff began serving a church as part-time Student Pastor. He continued in this role after college while working at Peninsula until 1995. He then felt led to serve full-time as Student Pastor of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. He served in this role until 2005 when God called him to start Blount Community Church.
Jeff did not attend church his whole life and does not always view things from a “traditional church perspective”. His relationship with the Lord began in 1984 after a youth retreat. This changed his life and within years, God led him to do things he never imagined… like teaching the Bible and leading young people. “I never planned to be a pastor,” says Jeff. “I don’t even trust a lot of pastors or church leaders. I’m not sure why God told me to do this (start Blount Community Church), but I’m glad He did. The main thing God wants BCC to do is love the Lord with all our heart and reach people who aren’t going to church. God didn’t tell me to duplicate the effective traditional churches in our area. We have some great churches. We are called to reach the other 60% in our community who don’t attend church and haven’t been reached yet.”

Pastor Kenny and his wife Anita have married 19 years and have three girls, Hannah(17), Mckenzie(15), and Sydney(10).
Joining the BCC Team in the summer of '07, Kenny left a church in North Carolina he loved and served as their pastor. It was a tough decision but in the end it was clear that God was telling him to come here. He served in Maryville for many years prior to this as a student minister and associate pastor.
Kenny was raised in a rural country town in Southwest Virginia where he remembers having a strong passion to play college football. He never knew how God would use this to change his life and eternity. While attending Carson Newman College to play football, God got Kenny's attention and changed his life. A year later, he felt God prompting him to give his life to vocational ministry. So, after graduating from CNC, he went to Southeastern Seminary and has served churches in Tennessee and North Carolina ever sense.
"Man, what a joy it is to be back in east Tennessee. More than that, what a honor to be in partnership with Jeff and the leadership of BCC. God rocked our world in the beginning of 2007 when the opportunity was presented to come. My wife and I came to the conclusion that this is where we can make the biggest difference for the kingdom and here we are. We are looking forward to serving God in a church that is fresh and exciting."
Pastor Jeff says about Kenny… "He's a much better guy than me. We are blessed to have him and Anita. When God was preparing us to hire another pastor, Kenny was first on the list… our top choice. His heart and service will bless us. And I know BCC will be a blessing to them as well… that is how God works."

Eddie is another local guy born and raised right here in Blount County… Rockford to be exact. He has been married to Heather for 13 years. They have three children, Nicolas (age 7) ,Ella (age 4) and Oliver (baby). Graduating from the University of Tennessee in 1997 with a degree in Civil Engineering, he currently holds a full-time position as Principal/Owner, Structural Engineering at Michael Brady Inc., an Architectural/Engineering Firm based in Knoxville.
Loving music for as long as he can remember, he started playing when he was 18. For 4 years, Eddie played heavily wherever and whenever he could. But his passion and fulfillment for music diminished to almost nothing and he all but quit playing.
God revived his love and passion for music in fresh way in 2006 when he joined the worship team at BCC. Eddie quickly became a key member in the band as he volunteered his talents and leadership to God. Looking back, Eddie says it is clear to realize that God was preparing him to lead worship. In spring of 2009, Eddie followed God with the faith-step to lead the worship team.
Eddie says, “It’s really awesome how God will bless you when you step out for him. I feel like I am only getting started and have a lot to learn. I’m excited to praise Him each week and it’s a blessing for me and my family to be involved at BCC.” He followed these comments by expressing his thanks and love for the support of his family and appreciation for the commitment of the worship team.
After his commitment to lead worship, his most recent favorite Bible verse became 1 Corinthians 14:15 “What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. “

Originally from Madisonville, Dean has lived in Maryville all of her adult life. She and Bill have been married 20 years. Their blended family was created following the deaths of their former spouses. Combined they have 4 daughters and 10 grandchildren. Bill works as a Transportation Specialist at Unitrac RR Materials in Knoxville.
Dean graduated from UT in 1992 and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2003 with a degree in Christian Education. She has served in several Blount County churches in various ministry capacities.Dean grew up in a Christian home accepting Christ into her life at the age of 9.
“Brent [Abbott] and I were dairy farmers until he died of cancer in 1988. A ‘calling’ into Christian education ministry in 1991 changed the path of my business career into full time ministry. Since that time I started collegiate, single adult, blended family ministries and more recently lead a youth ministry. Significant to my career was the founding and directing of a seminary extension center for 8 years where I also studied. Bill and I are amazed at how these past 19 years of experiences have prepared us to serve in the non-traditional environment of Blount Community Church. BCC is an exciting, spirit-filled place to discover and worship Jesus Christ!”
“My passion is spiritual growth. What an honor to serve in this capacity in a church committed to reaching individuals and families who have not yet discovered the love, joy and peace that comes through a personal relationship with Jesus.”
